Position Overview

Position: Non Full Time Consultant – Comprehensive Clinician
Department: Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences
Contract Type: One-year contract based on a revenue-sharing model.
Location: AKUH Main Campus & Outreach Hospitals

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Non Full Time Consultant within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are seeking an outstanding fellowship-trained clinician in comprehensive ophthalmology who will play a key role in delivering high-quality care and expanding community ophthalmology programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold locum consultant status at AKUH and outreach centers.
  • Provide comprehensive clinical services within the scope of training.
  • Collaborate with and refer patients to appropriate specialists within the department.
  • Participate in teaching and education for undergraduate and postgraduate learners (UGME, PGME, and fellows).
  • Engage in departmental initiatives to expand service delivery and improve patient outcomes across care sites.
  • Perform surgical procedures at Garden Outreach Hospital and other community centers within the AKU eye health system, as assigned.

Requirement


  • Completed postgraduate qualification: FCPS, FRCS, FRCOphth, American Board, or equivalent.
  • Clinical experience as an independent practicing ophthalmologist will be preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional conduct and collaborative practice
